The National Academic Depository (NAD) is the central digital archive of academic awards (degrees, diplomas, mark-sheets, certificates) issued by Indian universities, boards and skill agencies. Run jointly by NSDL Database Management Ltd (NDML) and CDSL Ventures (CVL) under the Ministry of Education's mandate, NAD provides a one-stop verification service for employers, embassies, and education regulators. Students register through their academic institution, link Aadhaar or DigiLocker, and access digitally-signed records lifelong. Bulk verification APIs are offered to corporate and international verifiers post-onboarding. NAD interoperates with DigiLocker so candidates can pull their records into either ecosystem.
